Healing Home Services

Who We Serve

Healing Home by United for Better supports adults ages 18 and older who benefit from a structured, family-style residential environment that promotes dignity, stability, independence, belonging, and community connection.

We serve adults whose needs may include developmental or cognitive disabilities, traumatic brain injury, mental health support needs, chronic health conditions, trauma histories, early dementia or Alzheimer’s-related needs, memory loss, cognitive decline, or other complex support needs that make independent living difficult while making larger institutional settings feel overwhelming or impersonal.

Our home may be appropriate for:

  • Adults with developmental disabilities, autism, cognitive delays, traumatic brain injury, or other lifelong support needs who require ongoing structure and assistance while maintaining meaningful involvement with family and caregivers.

  • Adults with mental health support needs, including individuals living with conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia, who benefit from a stable home environment, medication support, daily structure, wellness routines, and community engagement.

  • Adults managing chronic health conditions who need assistance maintaining routines, attending appointments, following care recommendations, managing medications, and supporting healthy daily living.

  • Individuals with trauma histories who may thrive in a smaller, relationship-based setting centered on safety, consistency, trust, respect, and trauma-informed support.

  • Adults with documented cognitive, developmental, mental health, or behavioral support needs who have limited family support, have experienced significant life transitions, or would benefit from structured residential care recommended by their provider, guardian, care team, MCO, IRIS consultant, or other referral source.

  • Adults experiencing early dementia, Alzheimer’s-related changes, memory loss, or cognitive decline who require increased structure and support while maintaining dignity, purpose, and quality of life.

  • Adults experiencing social isolation or reduced natural supports who benefit from meaningful connection, community participation, and a smaller home environment where they can be known and supported as individuals.

Healing Home helps bridge the gap between independent living and more institutional levels of care by providing individualized residential support in a safe, home-like environment while encouraging each resident to maintain the highest appropriate level of independence and community involvement.

Kayshawn (Kay) Boles

Meet the Founder

I’m Kayshawn “Kay” Boles, a caregiver, crisis responder, protector, and Milwaukee native raised in the 53206 community. I created Healing Home by United for Better from both professional experience and lived experience — shaped by what I have witnessed, survived, learned from, and continue to transform into purpose.

Growing up, I saw the generational impact of mental illness, addiction, alcoholism, and untreated trauma on individuals, families, trust, and identity. I also witnessed my own mother face mental health challenges, which gave me a deeply personal understanding of how difficult it can be for families to find support that feels safe, respectful, consistent, and human.

At the same time, my grandmother showed me something equally powerful: strength, stability, structure, compassion, and deep respect for others. Her influence became part of the foundation for Healing Home — a place designed to offer the kind of family-style support that helps people feel known, valued, and cared for while rebuilding stability in their lives.

My professional background spans health care, direct caregiving, crisis response, case coordination, protective services, and work with individuals and families navigating complex systems. That experience allows me to bring both compassion and structure to Healing Home, with an emphasis on safety, communication, documentation, collaboration, and individualized support.

Healing Home is deeply personal to me. It represents legacy, purpose, and community investment — taking the lessons of my own life and using them to create a supportive residential model in the same neighborhood that helped shape me.

My goal is simple: to provide a home where care feels personal, dignity is protected, families and professionals are treated as partners, and each resident is supported as a whole person.

Healing Home by United for Better is where lived experience, professional care, and community purpose come together.
